we were doing a brief for our documentary,research we made,about documentary makers,storage methods for Digital Video,digital artists,the process of making Digital Video clip.

Documentary

I was doing a research on Alloa Tower specially on Great Hall. Not too much information were found on the internet, so that made my research kind of difficoult.

found many documentary artist, such as

Donn Alan "D. A." Pennebaker, his latest documentary is called “Kings of pastry”, still active artist.

Kate Blewett ,she is best known for her documentaries on human rights abuses , such as “The Dying Rooms”.

Nick Davies , an investigative journalist and documentary maker ,and been named Journalist of the Year . His latest work is called “The School Report: Why Britain`s Schools Are Failing”.

Digital Video could be store using different methods ,such as Television ,Video CD , Projector ,Computer ,File Sharing(Napster ,Gnutella ,Bit Torrent).

After I done with my research ,I made a script. Our group went to visit Alloa Tower,set up the camera ,then I started filming. Edited in iMovie added sound effect ,and other effects.

The finished product was displayed on DVD, and made a packaging.

M.W.I College Magazine

Hi,it`s been a while since I wrote an update,oops.

Last week on Friday my group has made photos for our Magazine. We made fonts from clay,painted them. These were used for a title:M.W.I-the name of the Magazine.

Today I`m doing more research on Alloa Tower,specially on Ghosts,the rumour is that the Tower is hunted by the spirits of the previous owners.

We are entering to the Great Hall.

 The intesity of the energy was experienced by one of the investigators from the Ghost Club.

 The Ghost Club is the oldest organisation in the world , associated with ghosts and psychic phenomena..

 They have investigated many historic places in Scotland,one of them is Alloa Tower in Alloa in November 2007 and more recently in 2008.The second investigation was totally different from the first one in 2207.The investigators felt that the atmosphere in the building was stronger in this wonderful building.

Hi,

today we were filling the Article Planner,with our research work,putting text and images into it.I chose to do that via moodle.

My article is about "Machine Embroidery Techniques",nothing`s decided yet,I`ll try to simplify my article,I don`t want it to be" too dry",more colourful, understandable text.

Creating a DVD

Hi,

today we`ve been learning about a process of making DVD`s, starts with an IDEA,following the:

• storyboard & script
  
• filming-involves people,cameras,tripods,microphones,deid rat,jacket,batteries,tapes;
  
• location-transport,permission;
• capturing-DV cables;
• editing and sounds-"top and tail",transition(fading)-sound part covers:music,effects,foley,narration;
• DVD authoring-credits,Easter Egg;
• manufacture production-labels,booklet,sleeves,packaging;
  

Now,we have finished with a theory,from today we are going to do more practising .We will be starting filming on Alloa Tower.

College Magazine

Today,we started working on our project number three,which is we are about to make a College Magazine-introducing a next year`s Access to Creative Industries,for students who are looking to  enrol .

We have learned about "anatomy of a page,elements on

 the page:

overline ,drop cap,gutter,recto,alley,outside margin,title,subheads,footer,folio,stick up cap,side bar,verso,body text,jump line,pull quote,text wrap,byline,headers;

Design

In my opinion our artwork works fine ,just as we planned.We had some difficulties with making plasticine figures, couldn't  decide the height of the figures. Our figures are between 10-12 cm,everyone from our group made one figure,and they are in different size.

If I could start again I would choose one person to do figures and in that case they will be in harmony.

I made a ground for our project,and I did not have difficulties with.

Really enjoyed making it,from different type of materials,such as sand paper,kitchen foil,  coloured tissue paper.

I like the speaker figures in the booth, not my work,still like it.

Editing

Hi to everyone!

Today we will finish our animation,editing frame by frame,adding some music,which is already done.We were doing Mascot Race,footballers dressed like daffodil,bear...It`s kind of a silly race to entertain the audience.

Final

Hi,

today is the day to finish the animation"Show Racism the Red Card". The artwork works fine,as we planned. We haven't finished editing our film,hopefully today afternoon we will get chance to do it. The music part is done,just need some tailoring.

Traditional animation vs. Computer animation

Hi,I`m back again.

We are about to finish our animation"Show Racism the Red Card".

Traditional animation vs. Computer animation

Traditional animation requires backgrounds ,which is created separately. Each frame is drawn,then photographed and a film is shot. Computer animation does not requires that sort of thinks.

Computer animation requires more steps:

• modeling the character,
  
• rigging the bones of the character,
• texturing,
• layout and animation,such as character motion,camera moves;
• lighting and shading,
• composing-combining the elements,

At the end, in both techniques the characters comes alive on screen.

traditional artists do a lot of work drawing the characters,takes more time to finish a project,and also they have to be talented artists.

In computer technique programs do the hard job for us ,easy to use,can be learned,does not requires an artist.

3D animated films are done real well,and the audience seems to be like it,probably because they are more like colourful and also it`s easy to create a good story in 3D.A good example for 3D movie is "Finding Nemo".

2D animation can be done on a computer,called Flash Animation kind of depends on the skill of the artist.A good example for 2d animation is:"Fosters`s Home for Imaginary Friends".

In my opinion 2D animation will never die,they are more sophisticated and could  be enjoyed by adults.
